Assistant Cantonal Chemist, Head of the Office laboratories and water inspection

General missions of the position: 1. Direct the various fields of the Laboratories and water inspection division, ensure steering and manage human and financial resources. 2. Ensure the processing of decision reports in accordance with the cantonal and federal legal provisions in force. Implement cantonal and federal policies. 3. Assist the Cantonal Chemist in the strategy of the Office and participate in the transversal steering of the Office as a member of the management and Assistant Cantonal Chemist. 4. Fulfill the role of principal scientific respondent in external relations. Represent the Office in cantonal and intercantonal Commissions. 5. Assist the Cantonal Chemist in the management of the quality management system (QMS) while meeting the requirements of the system and ensuring consistency of work with the operation of the laboratories. Profile: • Doctorate in sciences • Federal diploma in official food control (DCAl) and Federal diploma in direction of official food control (DDCAl) (possibility of completing these trainings during the first two years of the function) • Master in public administration (desired) • Minimum 8 years of professional practice in an analytical laboratory (management, development) • Minimum 8 years of recognized training and/or experience in management • Good knowledge of German and English (written level B2) • Knowledge of laws and legislations relating to the fields of activity • Mastery of a data management system (LIMS) • Strong interest in public service, good knowledge of its functioning as well as cantonal and federal structures • Ease in communication, planning and organization • Great capacity for work, reliability, rigor, availability • Ability to resolve conflicts and sense of human relations • Spirit of initiative, commitment towards entrusted responsibilities and great autonomy • Excellent mastery of office tools
