Scientific Research and Development Engineer

This is the contribution you can make • Operate, maintain and strategically further develop core applications of the mission-critical military Command & Control (C2) systems for Swiss airspace surveillance as well as the associated user software • Record user requirements, taking into account the applicable regulatory requirements (BAZL, MAA, EUROCONTROL etc.), translate them into technical solutions and develop architectures, designs, concepts and specifications • Further develop, parameterize and optimize the airspace surveillance system network and ensure high availability and reliable and stable operation • Participate in the planning, procurement, integration, verification / validation and deployment of complex software and system architectures in close cooperation with users and partners (armasuisse, Luftwaffe, skyguide and private companies) • Develop technical and scientific foundations for the further development of airspace surveillance and advise users and decision-makers on the optimal use and further development of the systems • Pursue scientific-technological developments, initiate, coordinate and lead research and development projects with universities and partner organizations What makes you unique • Completed studies at a university (FH, UNI, ETH) in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a comparable field of study with practical experience in software development and architecture of PaaS and SaaS • Profound knowledge in analysis, coding and system programming for real-time systems as well as integration of complex systems • Knowledge in data fusion and the development of scalable software solutions for distributed systems as well as practical experience with network and communication technologies • Experience with complex software projects in enterprise and security-critical environments • Willingness to contribute actively, share knowledge and achieve ambitious goals together efficiently • Good active knowledge of at least one second official language as well as very good English skills and, if possible, passive knowledge of a third official language What we offer • Working for Switzerland We are committed to the success model of Switzerland and work for the benefit of the population. • Lived diversity Thanks to equal opportunities, we develop our competencies and contribute different perspectives. • Healthy at the workplace We support and advise our employees in the area of physical and mental health.
