Detention Officer - Detention Agent

Holders will have to enforce in particular the regulations and instructions in force and will be responsible for the daytime and nighttime surveillance and control of detained persons. Detention agents work in an environment of deprivation of liberty, where contacts with the outside world are limited. They must be able to work in a team and carry out their activities with irregular schedules. They evolve with a sense of corps and have rich and varied human contacts. Particular skills: Holders must have human and relational skills and be able to support, in certain circumstances, a work climate that can be oppressive. Required training and/or years of experience: Candidates must have a CFC or equivalent training. From their hiring, holders will have to follow the cantonal Geneva training for one year, then the training provided by the Swiss training center for penitentiary staff in order to obtain the federal certificate of detention officer. After the success of the cantonal Geneva training, trainees are then hired and assigned to various establishments in the canton Specific knowledge: For penalty enforcement establishments, professional knowledge and experience are required in the context of workshop supervision (e.g. bakery, maintenance, carpentry, green space management, painting, etc.). Knowledge of foreign languages is an asset.
