Sr Legal Counsel - Banking & Trade Finance

Our client is a bank based in Genève, operating in an international and multicultural environment.

Missions

Your responsibilities:

• Advise the various departments of the Bank on all legal issues, providing pragmatic solutions in compliance with the Swiss regulatory framework.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal and contractual documentation, particularly in the fields of Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management, and Financial Institutions.
• Manage requests, investigations, and procedures from Swiss and foreign authorities, as well as civil, criminal, administrative, and litigation files.
• Ensure the follow-up of external legal advice and coordinate their intervention with the relevant departments.
• Perform legal research and analysis, monitor developments in Swiss legislation and regulation, and support their implementation within the Bank.
• Support the Head of Legal & Compliance on various legal and regulatory matters, particularly regarding Compliance, internal training, and by providing backup.

Candidate Profile

Your profile:

• 15 to 20 years of professional experience in a senior legal role, ideally acquired within the Swiss banking sector.
• Significant and imperative experience in Commodity / Trade Finance
• Excellent knowledge of Swiss law and the banking environment, as well as regulatory and Compliance issues.
• Excellent analytical, writing, and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.
• Strong interpersonal skills, autonomy, sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage several complex files in parallel.
• Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written, and residence in Switzerland.
