The GVTG is an independent public-law service company based in Frauenfeld. It is run according to non-profit-oriented but economic principles and insures buildings in the canton of Thurgau against fire and elemental damage, promotes fire departments, and deals with damage prevention in the interest of personal and property protection. The statutory mandate of the GVTG is based in particular on the law on building insurance and the fire protection law.
