The General Secretariat of the DDPS is the actual staff organization of the department. It assists the head of the department in his role as a member of the Federal Council and in the direction of the DDPS, develops the political strategy as well as the directives for the administrative units and supports and monitors their implementation. Furthermore, it provides for planning, controlling and coordination at the department level in the cross-cutting sectors Personnel, Finance, Law and Informatics as well as in the sectors Security Policy and Territory and environment.
