Senior Researcher in the field of neuromuscular electrostimulation & neurogenic bowel management

The international SNF‑financed clinical study "ESBo‑SCI" examines the influence of abdominal neuromuscular electrostimulation (NMES) on bowel management in people with chronic spinal cord injury and neurogenic bowel dysfunction. The goal is to clarify whether the positive effects of stimulation are based primarily on motor contractions or on afferent (sensory) neuromodulation, in order to establish an evidence-based treatment protocol. The position is limited to 4 years. These are your tasks • Participant management: You will independently take over the recruitment, screening, and close monitoring (both on site in Nottwil and online) of study participants over the entire study period. • Intervention instruction: You will instruct participants in the proper use of the electrostimulation device. • Visits & data collection: You will conduct structured study visits, accompany participants in filling out questionnaires and the bowel management diary on the tablet. • International cooperation: You will work actively in the interdisciplinary study team and coordinate with our partners in Canada and Norway as part of this multinational project. • Data analysis & publication: You will be responsible for the study database (SecuTrial®), analyze the collected data, and prepare the results for scientific publications in peer-reviewed specialist journals. This characterizes you • Academic qualification: You have completed a PhD in the field of movement sciences, neurosciences, nursing sciences, medicine, or a related life science discipline. • Research experience: You have proven experience in the practical planning, organization, and implementation of clinical intervention studies. • Publication strength: You have already gained experience in writing and preparing scientific manuscripts. • Language competence: You have native-level German language skills for daily, empathetic interaction with our patients, as well as excellent English language skills (C1 in word and writing) for scientific exchange and publication. • Technical & methodological skills: You are proficient in handling study databases (e.g., SecuTrial® or similar systems) and have knowledge of statistical data analysis. • Personality: A pronounced organizational talent, excellent communication skills, and an empathetic, professional approach to people with spinal cord injuries characterize you.
