Start date: 01.09.2026 or by arrangement Work location: Burgdorf 0% Remote Work The Regional Prison Burgdorf belongs to the Office for Prison Services of the Canton of Bern. With a total of 140 prison places, it serves the execution of early release, imprisonment, semi-liberty, investigation and security detention and, exceptionally, compulsory commitment (FU) as well as police custody. We are looking for a Dipl. Registered Nurse HF/FH or Nursing/Psych., 60-100% (40% fixed-term until 31.12.2026) as of 01.09.2026 or by arrangement Your tasks <br /> • You care for and treat the somatically and/or psychologically ill inmates from over forty nations. • You undertake initial assessments for medical questions and triage emergencies. You organize and manage somatic, psychiatric and dental doctor visits as well as necessary hospital admissions. • You work closely with medical doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, specialist departments and security personnel. The medical documentation of progress and reports is carried out in an electronic application (EPA+). • Working hours are divided into three shifts between 06:45 and 17:30, no night shifts. You are prepared to work on weekends and to take on on-call duties. <br /> Your profile <br /> • In addition to tertiary education (AKP, DN II, HF/FH nursing or psychiatry) and several years of professional experience, you have understanding for people from different cultural backgrounds who are in an extraordinary life situation. • You are a person with professional and life experience, master the German language in speaking and writing and can communicate orally in French and English. • In hectic situations, you maintain calm, keep an overview and set priorities. • Independent and solution-oriented action corresponds to your nature and - you are used to working in a process-oriented manner. In doing so, you enjoy taking responsibility and do not shy away from making decisions. • You use your social competence and teamwork skills constructively in interdisciplinary and inter-institutional cooperation. • You succeed in keeping closeness and distance to the inmates professionally in balance. • Good PC skills as a user are a requirement.
